Howie is a Kettlebell Sport Coach with the International Kettlebell Sport & Fitness Academy IKSFA), personally trained and certified by Sergey Rachinsky and Sergey Rudnev.

Howie is a Certified Sports Performance Coach for USA Weightlifting (USAW), the organization responsible for conducting Olympic weightlifting programs throughout the United States, and has received instruction and coaching assistance from USAW Level 3 Coach Marc Chasnov.

Howie is an internationally ranked kettlebell competitor. Howie has attained Rank I in Long Cycle under IKSFA rules and Rank III in both Long Cycle and Biathlon under WKC rules.

Howie has extensive experience with both resistance and cardiovascular training and was formally certified as a personal trainer with the National Federation of Personal Trainers (NFPT). 

Howie has over 10 years training experience in various martial arts including Kenpo Karate, Long Fist Kung Fu, Aikido, Yang Style Tai Chi, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Howie is a certified Reiki II practitioner, taught and attuned under Marie Shanahan, Reiki Master.

Howie maintains his CPR and AED training with the American Heart Association.

Howie supports BuddyBall Sports in Rockland County, a non-profit sports organization dedicated to providing the opportunity for children with developmental disabilities to play sports (www.BuddyBallSports.org).  He was a vice president for the Clarkstown Special Education PTA (SEPTA). He sat on the parent board of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Committee for Laurel Plains Elementary School in Clarkstown Central School District.  He is also a large supporter of the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (http://tsalliance.org/), an organization dedicated to finding a cure for tuberous sclerosis complex while improving the lives of those affected.
